What is a transcript?
An official record of your college learning. The transcript lists the courses you took and the grades you earned, typically by academic term. The transcript will also list any degree(s) you earn and may include other information depending on the college.
Official transcripts are generated by the college and have a signature, an embossed stamp or some other mark of genuineness.
Unofficial transcripts can often be printed by students for an informal record.
Other colleges, graduate schools and employers may require an official transcript. Other countries may be more interested in a graduate’s diploma as evidence of the degree.
In the US, though, the official transcript is primary.
